Good morning! You made it. Welcome to the very first daily edition of The Watercooler. We’re here to make sure you have the most interesting thing to say at the office (or on the Slack channel) today.

Let’s dive in.

🗓️ On This Day in History February 20, 1861: While the United States was on the brink of Civil War, a secret plot to assassinate President-elect Abraham Lincoln in Baltimore was foiled. Detectives, including the famous Allan Pinkerton and the first female detective Kate Warne, smuggled Lincoln through the city in the middle of the night on a special train. He arrived safely in Washington D.C. for his inauguration, proving that even in 1861, security was all about the "midnight run."

🤯 Fun Fact of the Day There is enough gold in the Earth's oceans to give every person on the planet 9 pounds of it. There are approximately 20 million tons of gold suspended in the water and sitting on the seafloor. The catch? It’s so diluted (measured in parts per trillion) that we currently don't have a cost-effective way to get it out. We are literally swimming in billions of dollars we can’t touch.

🗣️ Quote of the Day "The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existence." — Albert Einstein
